Humbly asking for sponsors for adventure race =)

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 21, 2010, 7:45 AM

Good afternoon ladies and germs :worship: :lmao:

Well I have been away from DA for a little while and I have lots and lots of deviations
and comments to go through so my biggest apologies to all those that faved and commented etc
I will be onto you all very soon. I have about 2000 deviations to go through..........!! =D

Okay the purpose of this little journal entry is to ask if any of you good people could sponsor
me and my team mate (the lovely Laura Silver) on our adventure race. :sprint: Race site [link]

Please visit our own Justgiving donation page for this race too [link]

The adventure race in question is called the Cairngorm Charmer and its on the 9th October 2010.
The Cairngorm Charmer is a 'simply spiffing' 12-mile adventure relay event based at
CairnGorm Mountain passing through beautiful Glenmore Forest, along the tumbling Allt Mor trail and around Loch Morlich.

The event is a 2-lap relay for teams of two (male/female/mixed/categories )
who in turn each complete a lap consisting of

4m Run + 4m Mountain Bike + 4m Run
(with a really 'charming' finish!)Note: the 'charming finish' is back up Cairngorm Mountain

All event proceeds go to Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland.

Anyway Ive been training :strong: for a while and I'm pretty good for the race already my original team mate had to drop out due to work commitments and Laura came in to replace him last week so theres a lot of tough training for her for the next couple of months.

Anyway if any of you could spare a quid(pound) then we would be over the moon(mountain) if you could sponsor the team. :winner: :winner: :trophy: :ambulance:

Thanks so much  :highfive:

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 21, 2010, 5:24 AM

Hey there all you lovely people :worship:
Its been a while since I wrote a journal and feature. It's about time I did as I have to thank all those who have commented, faved and watched me after the amazing response to my recent posts, particularly....

This image has given me the most amazing feedback, response and faves that Ive had on DA and I'm so happy that people have connected with it. I have actually managed to reply to all the comments and thank each and every single fave(I think!!). It took me a few days but I needed to show my appreciation to all you good people.

Big thanks too :iconzanasoul: and :iconcountessbloody: for also featuring the image

Anyway time for a little feature of some fantastic pieces. It's so difficult to choose from the fantastic work I have seen and I'd love to feature many more of you.

PIN UP

noun
1.
a.A picture, especially of a sexually attractive person
that is displayed on a wall.
b.A person considered a suitable model for such a picture.

This isn't an exhaustive history of Pin Up Photography but a brief intro and its influence on glamour, portrait, fetish and pin up photography today.

Pin Up photography has been around for a very long time it has been said that the first "Pin Up" style photographs were about in the 1890's and attributed to the "French Postcards" sold on the streets of France

In the early 1900's Pin Up became very popular with images of scantily dressed women playfully posed and often seeming startled or suprised and also with a look of delight.

Its alleged that the term Pin Up wasnt actually used for this type of photography and artwork until 1941. Many of the popular Pin Ups were photographs of celebreties and film stars of the day.

Famous Pin Ups in the 20's,30's and 40,s include Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Mae West, Jean Harlow, Ava Gardner, Jane Russel and Betty Grable.

Betty Grable is considered by some to be the most famous Pin Up of all time. Her bathing suit clad image was very popular with US soldiers during WWII and adorned planes and vehicles.

In the 50's it was Marilyn Monroe and the "Queen of Pin Ups" Bettie Paige who became Pin Up stars. Both are now iconic figures. Bettie Paige is still extremely influential on photographers and models alike in glamour, fetish and pin up styles today.

The influence from those early Pin Up stars on todays Pin ups like Bernie Dexter and Dita Von Teese is evident. There are different influences now with the popularity of the likes of fetish fashion, burlesque, body art and piercings and that has influenced the styles of "pin up" photography we see today.

There are photographers and models today who strive to capture the original classic pin up "cheesecake" style and its still extremely popular.

Here on deviantART the Pin Up category in People and Portraits is a very popular one with many postings a day. Many of the posts maybe considered by some to be not "Pin Up" in the classic sense and theres also a blurring of lines when it comes to fetish, fashion, glamour, artistic nude and classic portraits. It can be diffcult to categorise some images in just one category.

Look into those categories and you'll see Pin Up styles in all of them. In many of these images there is more than a passing nod to those early pin up stars.

Below is a small collection of "Pin Up" style images that where posted in the last month alone from various categories of photography.

Heres to the Pin Up :worship: :worship: :w00t: :w00t:

New Year Musings(and a little feature).

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 21, 2010, 11:05 AM

Happy New Year to you all. I know its a little bit late but Ive been busy in my watery world. =D

I hope you all had a good time and that 2010 is going to be a good one for you. Thanks to all who commented and faved on my last lot of postings. Ive never had so much interest in my work particularly "Pale Morning" and "Breaking Through". When I get such good feedback as I did it inspires me to do more and also better myself. Thank you all. :worship: :worship: :worship:

I read a journal recently regarding people just faving and not commenting and some think that these people are just lurkers and collectors. Well I do try to comment on all that I fave but at times its impossible for me to do this. I watch so many people and I do get a lot of postings to sift through. Commenting on every fave is totally impracticable for me especially when Im offshore and my time online is very limited. Most people do not sit at their PC/laptop all day and the sheer amount of postings on here would make it difficult for most. I myself dont care much if somebody faves and doesnt comment, its good enough that Ive been faved =D

Ooh just before I start the feature I just bought my self a Lensbaby Muse!! Havent had much chance to have a good play but I will and see what I can come up with. :w00t:

Anyway enough of my inane drivel time for a little feature of my recent faves.

Hi guys and girls,
Just a quick journal to apologise for not replying too the comments and replies that I now have and also for the 700 deviations that I need to go through.

I have been offshore since the middle of October and In saturation since November and the laptops that we use in 'Sat' have been broken and nobody on the surface or at the offices really gives a shit about it. Only just got this one and I start decompressing tomorrow. Will be on the surface early hours Monday morning (I think). Its  been a long long trip with some of the worst weather Ive ever experienced out here.

So again apologies to you all and normal service will be resumed shortly. (If anything is ever normal down here =D)
right, take care people.....x
